Overview

Uploading Google’s P-MAX placement report to Spider AF allows you to easily and quickly check for invalid or fraudulent placements. You can also block these sites to prevent ads from being shown there.

How to Use

  1. Download the P-MAX placement report from Google.
(For download instructions, please refer to Google Help Page)

  2. Access the Spider AF dashboard.

  3. From the left menu, select "Placements" > "Imported Reports."

  4. Click the "Upload a new report" button in the top-right corner.

  5. You'll be taken to the upload screen. Click "Select a file" and upload the data as a CSV file.

    • Please ensure it's in CSV format.

    • Upload the report exactly as downloaded from Google; changing the column order may cause issues.

  6. Once the file is uploaded, click the "Proceed" button in the bottom-right corner.

7. The data will be processed on the following page. When the status column shows "Ready," the analysis is done. Clicking the "→" symbol will take you to the results page.

Results Analysis

  • The "Brand Safety" field (in the red box) shows the total number of sites that may cause brand damage based on the analysis.

  • The "Made For Advertising (MFA)" field (in the blue box) indicates the total number of sites identified as possible ad fraud or money-grabbing schemes.

Scroll down the page to view specific domains, detected placement categories, and their block status. You can also choose to block specific sites.

How to Read the Data

  • Category Column: In the Category column, "-" means the site didn't match Spider AF’s invalid or fraudulent detection categories. A value in the category field indicates that it did match.

  • Blocking Type Column: In the Blocking Type column, “-” means the site is not currently excluded from the ad destination. “Automatically Blocked” means it is already excluded.

Click the red "Block" button in the action column to exclude the site from ad destinations.

You can export the data by clicking the "Export CSV" button in the top-right corner.

Recommendation

With AI-driven ads like P-MAX, there are instances where ads are placed on fraudulent or low-quality sites. These sites either generate fake conversions or leads, or are designed to exploit ad budgets.

If you have a high volume of P-MAX ads, we recommend using this feature twice a month or once a week to check for any fraudulent sites.
