Getting started
For each advertising platform, you will create a new audience tag for Spider AF (pixel tag / event tag).
Spider AF will trigger the corresponding audience tag (pixel tag / event tag) when fraudulent clicks occur.
Based on the firing data of that audience tag, you can create an audience list that includes only the users who generated fraudulent clicks.
By applying this audience list as delete targeting (exclusion targeting) in each ad campaign, you can prevent ads from being delivered to users who have previously caused fraudulent clicks.
※ We generally recommend applying this exclusion setting to all campaigns.
※ When adding a new campaign, please ensure that the Spider AF audience list is added as an exclusion for that campaign as well.
Setup Steps
Excluding fraudulent clicks in Meta Ads involves the following two steps:
Create an audience tag and integrate it with Spider AF.
Create the audience for exclusion.
⚠️ Due to potential changes in the advertising platform’s interface or specifications, some parts of the instructions below may differ from the actual settings.
If any discrepancies occur, please refer to the official help pages for the most up-to-date information and follow the latest procedures.
Step 1: How to create an audience tag
Log in to Meta Ads Manager Business.
If you are using a personal account, you may see Meta Business Suite instead of the interface below. Make sure to log in to your business account.
Go to Settings and under Data Sources select Datasets & pixels.
Create a new dataset by clicking the Add button and put "SAFVIT" as the pixel name.
* You can register up to 100 pixels per account. Once you reach this limit, you will not be able to create any additional pixels. If this happens, please delete any unnecessary pixels. If deleting is not possible, you will not be able to set exclusions using audiences.
The following screen will appear.
Enter "safivt" as the pixel name, then click Create. After the dataset is created, select "Go to Events Manager."
Select the target ad account and click "Next".
On the same page, scroll down and select "Set up Meta Pixel."
In the next step you'll be asked to install your pixel, select "Install code manually."
A base code will be displayed. Copy the pixel ID from the following part of this code.
(If the Spider AF permissions are for an agency, please copy the ID and share it with the advertiser.)
fbq('init', 'pixel ID');Next, on the Spider AF admin, under "Ad Fraud Protection," go to configurations and select "Ad Networks."
Click Add new Meta Pixel.
Enter the ID copied in step 7 in the following location. Select the tracker that corresponds to the Spider AF analysis tag. (Exclusion settings cannot be made unless they are linked.)
The Pixel name is arbitrary, but if you have multiple products, giving it a product name or brand name will make it easier to identify which product or brand it is later on.
*Since agencies cannot select trackers using their Spider AF authority, please contact the advertiser or us with the Pixel ID you have set and the target product.
Click "Add Meta Pixel ID" to complete the audience tag setup.
Step 2: Create the audience for exclusion
From the options on the left, choose Ads Manager and select Audiences.
Under Create audience, from the options below create a "Custom audience"
Select Website and click Next.
Set the conditions
Include Accounts Center accounts who meet the criteria: Select "Any."
Source: Select the pixel you created for Spider AF.
Events: Select "All website visitors."
Retention: Enter "180" days.
Audience name: Give your audience a name of your choice and save it.
Your custom audience has been created.
*Audience size is defined differently from the number of invalid accesses detected by Spider AF, so there may be differences in the counted numbers.
Next, select "Campaign" from the left menu, then select the "Ad Set" tab.
*Audience exclusion for Meta ads is applied on an ad set basis. Click the "Edit" button for the ad set you want to apply and set each ad set one by one as multiple selections are not possible.
You will see an item called “Audience”, so click “Show more controls.”
10. Next, after you click on edit and scroll down below, from Custom audience exclusion, select the audience name you created in step 4.
Finally, select “Publish”, and the audience exclusion will be applied.
We can guide you through this setup with screen sharing. Please contact us if you have any trouble.
