Getting started
For each advertising platform, create a new audience tag (pixel tag / event tag) for Spider AF.
Spider AF will trigger the corresponding audience tag (pixel tag / event tag) when fraudulent clicks occur.
This allows you to create an audience list consisting only of users who performed fraudulent clicks, based on the firing data of that tag.
By setting this audience list for delete targeting (audience exclusion) in each ad campaign, you can prevent your ads from being shown to users who have committed fraudulent clicks in the future.
⚙️ It is generally recommended to apply this exclusion setting to all campaigns.
⚠️ When adding a new campaign, please make sure to apply the Spider AF audience list as delete targeting in that campaign as well.
Setup Steps
The exclusion setup for fraudulent clicks in Taboola Ads consists of 2 steps:
Issue a new pixel tag in the Taboola Ads management screen for Spider AF, and register its tag ID in the Spider AF dashboard.
Set up audience exclusion on each campaign (delete targeting).
1. Issue a Pixel Tag in Taboola Ads and Register It in Spider AF
You need to issue a new pixel tag specifically for Spider AF.
Do not use any existing pixel tags for this setup.
Log in to the Taboola management console and click “Audience”.
Click “Create New Audience” and select “From Pixel”.
3. You will be taken to the Create New Custom Audience screen. Please fill out the fields as follows:
Audience name: Enter
Spider AF PixelType: Event
Event Name:
SAFIVT
4. The pixel code will be displayed.
Copy the Tag ID from the code snippet as shown below:
_tfa.push({notify: 'event', name: 'safivt', id: tag ID});
Note: If your Spider AF account has agency permissions, share the copied ID with the admin.
5. In the Spider AF dashboard, go to the left menu “Configurations", then click on "Ad Networks” and select “Taboola Ads.”
6. Click “Add New Taboola Tag ID” (on the right side or bottom of the screen).
7. Paste the Tag ID you copied in Step 4.
Select the corresponding Spider AF tracking tag (this link is required to enable exclusion targeting). You can give the tag any name, but if you manage multiple products or brands, it’s recommended to name it accordingly for easy identification later.
8. Click “Add Taboola Tag ID.”
The audience tag issuance is now complete.
9. Return to your Taboola account and proceed to fill out the rest of the fields as follows:
Include people from: Enter
180Exclude Audience from all campaigns: If you want to apply the exclusion to all campaigns immediately, select “Yes”.
Click on create audience.
⚠️ You do not need to install the issued pixel tag.
Spider AF will automatically fire each media’s audience tag via the Spider AF LP analysis tag when fraudulent clicks occur.
💡 If you selected “Yes” for Exclude Audience from all campaigns in Step 2,
audience exclusion will be automatically applied once Spider AF’s configuration is complete, and you can skip the next section (Step 2: Add audience exclusion to ad sets).
2. Set up audience exclusion on each campaign
Log in to Taboola Ads and select “Campaigns.”
Pick a campaign for audience exclusion, then click the pencil icon to the right to edit it.
Scroll to the Audience Targeting section. If Spider AF audience is in the Excluded Audiences, you do not need to make changes. Click Save.
If you do not see savift in the Excluded Audiences section, click the word Include, then click Exclude in the drop-down menu.
Click type the audience name, then select the Spider AF Pixel. Click Save.
Spider AF counts invalid traffic differently from Taboola. The size of this audience may not match the value on your Dashboard.
