Introduction

To set up invalid click exclusion for Meta Ads, you need to connect your Meta Ads account with Spider AF via API.

This help article explains how to set up the API integration if you have never connected Spider AF via API before.

Setup Steps

1. From the left-side menu on the Spider AF dashboard, go to Ad Fraud Protection > Configrations > Ad Networks, then select Meta.

Click Connect an ad account to proceed with the API integration setup.

2. Accept the Meta app connection prompts, this give permissions to access and modify Meta Ads

3. Select the business portfolio you want to connect.

4. Once selected, the account will be displayed on the Spider AF dashboard.

The Audience Exclusion toggle will appear on the right side.

Click the toggle to enable audience exclusion.

5. A window for selecting a Pixel ID will appear.

If you have never connected Spider AF via API before, there will be no existing pixel available to select. Please create a new pixel.

⚠️ Note: Select / create a dedicated pixel for blocking ad fraud. Do not reuse the same pixel you use for Meta Ads measurement.

Go to Settings and under Data Sources select Datasets & pixels.

7. Create a new dataset by clicking the Add button and use "SAFIVT" as the pixel name.

* You can register up to 100 pixels per account. Once you reach this limit, you will not be able to create any additional pixels.

If this happens, please reuse/rename any inactive pixel. Ensure you do not reuse the same pixel as the one you typically use for general analytics and ads measurement.

8. The following screen will appear.
Enter "SAFIVT" as the pixel name, then click Create.

9.Return to the Spider AF dashboard and click the Audience Exclusion toggle again.

The pixel ID you created earlier will be displayed. Select the applicable pixel.

Enter a pixel name (optional)
Select specific Spider AF trackers if applicable; this affects which trackers the exclusion pixel will execute from. By default this is "All Trackers"
Select platform types if applicable; this affects the the cost savings estimation. By default this is set to All.
then click Add Meta Pixel ID.

10. At the bottom of the Spider AF Meta Integrasion screen, check the Audience Exclusions section and confirm that a new row has been added for the audience tag ID of the ad account you set up.

It may take a few minutes for this to be reflected.

11. Please reload the page. Once the Audience Exclusion toggle turns green and is switched ON, the setup is complete.

💡 Once the setup is complete, an audience list will be automatically created in the Campaigns section of Meta Ads Manager.

The automatically created audience list is similar to the one described in “2. Create an Audience List and Configure Exclusion” in this help article. A custom audience named SAFIVT will be created under Exclude these custom audiences.

💡 If you turn the Audience Exclusion toggle in Spider AF gray / OFF, the audience list created in Meta Ads Manager will be automatically deleted.

This does not apply if an integration error has occurred.
