Q: For Google, is it recommended to set up both "IP exclusion" and "Audience exclusion"?

A: In Spider AF, we recommend configuring both "IP exclusion" and "Audience exclusion."

Here are the details of each exclusion method:

  • IP exclusion: Excludes "IPs" that generate fraudulent clicks from ad distribution.

  • Audience exclusion: Excludes "audiences" (≒ Cookies) that generate fraudulent clicks from ad distribution.

By setting up both, you can expand the detection and prevention coverage for fraudulent clicks.

Here are examples of when each exclusion would be effective:

  • When IP exclusion is effective: If a user accesses using one IP but different devices such as a computer and smartphone.

  • When Audience exclusion is effective: If a user changes location, using a different IP but still accessing from the same device and browser.
